Dissertation abstract of smart city indicators and criteria, a case study of Urmia city

Abstract: Today, the smart city has been the focus of city planners and city managers as an irreplaceable solution to urban problems. In the current research, considering the status of Urmia city at the national level and the attention of national managers to this matter and the selection of Urmia city as a city with the potential to become a smart city in Iran, the research aims to examine the indicators and criteria of the smart city according to the standard model of the smart city in the European Union and compare and examine them in the current situation of Urmia city. According to these standards, the smart city is defined along with 3 principles, each of these principles play a fundamental role in giving meaning to the smart city: knowledge and knowledge-based development, sustainable development, strengthening the integrity of the city and citizen participation. According to these definitions, Urmia city is examined at the standard level and main index including smart economy, smart dynamics, smart governance, smart people, smart life and finally smart environment. According to the research and results obtained from the current situation of Urmia city, as well as the examination of these conditions through the statistical sample size of 383 people obtained based on Cochran's formula, investigations were conducted to compare the indicators and criteria of the smart city based on the standards of the European Union smart city model and to analyze the current situation of Urmia city based on these standards in order to identify the potential of Urmia city and frame it to become a smart city. As a result of the research of the present research, the city of Urmia obtained a score of 30 out of 90 in the level of the researcher's research on the current situation of the city of Urmia and finally a score of 32.527 out of 90 in the information level of the questionnaire, which was obtained to prove the results of the current situation of this research through the questionnaire. According to the points obtained in the current situation as well as the points obtained through the questionnaire, Urmia city is placed in the ranking of 22 to 40 points among the cities with the potential to become a smart city.
